Creation of Surgical Assistant Community for Elective and After-Hours Surgery

Goals

  • To discuss creation of a sustainable and competent pool of well-trained surgical assistants.
  • To determine how to identify and organize interested physicians.
  • To create more robust after hours coverage.

Outcomes

  • To improve family physician engagement within the hospital and provide an opportunity for other family physicians to work as surgical assistants.
